How does the in person EMT certification course work step by step?

How to navigate the in person EMT course from registration to completion

  1. Complete Registration Application by logging in here and finishing all 4 steps: https://www.emtfiretraining.com/amember4/member.php
  2. Answer Questions about Payment Options and email or call with answers:
    1. Do you plan to pay the tuition in full or set up a payment plan? If you are going to choose a payment plan, will you be paying $500, $1000 or $1500 down?
    2. If you are doing a payment plan, what is your full SSN and birth date?
    3. Do you plan to work as an EMT once you are certified or is this for volunteer and educational purposes only?
  3. After you have completed the above registration application you will receive your Optional Payment Plan Documents and then Enrollment Agreement through PandaDoc. When these are signed and returned you will receive instructions for Tuition Payment.
  4. Paying your tuition will open your classroom and an instructor will be assigned to you. Your instructor will issue your first assignment in your welcome email labelled, “Why do you want to be an EMT?” located under chapter 1 in your classroom. Once this is completed and submitted, we will order your books to be shipped to you. They will arrive in 4-7 business days.
  5. Once your books arrive you will start working your way through the online course work.
    1. Read Textbook and do optional Workbook exercises.
    2. Complete any assignments for the chapter.
    3. Listen to Pre-Recorded Lecture for the chapter.
    4. Study and prepare for quiz.
    5. Take Quiz
    6. If there is a section test posted under a chapter, it will cover all previous chapters in that section. Take the section test before moving on to the next chapter.
    7. Work your way through the chapters until you are finished, and then you will be able to take the Final Exam.
    8. Quizzes get 2 attempts with grades being averaged between the 2 attempts. You do not have to take the second attempt if you are happy with the score received.
    9. Section tests and Final Exam are 1 attempt.
    10. Make sure all assignments are completed.
    11. Watch EMT Skill Videos located above chapter 1.
    12. Memorize the Skill Sheets that are in a folder above chapter 1.
  6. After you hit chapter 30 you will receive an email with instructions on how to register to start your NREMT Cognitive Test Preparation. Please read through the information about this under Chapter 41 and follow the suggestions for preparation.
  7. Your CPR will be provided to you during your in-person Skills Week, so you do not need to schedule a class on your own.
  8. CLINICAL Experience: Print off 10 Patient Observation Forms located at the top of classroom below calendar and fill out 1 form each for 10 patients you observe either on an ambulance or in an Emergency Room. If you are unable to find a place that will allow you to do this assignment due to covid restrictions, you will not be required to turn in your forms, but it is encouraged that you fulfill this assignment.
  9. Once you have completed all the above you are ready for your skills week.
